The ability of thermal energy storage systems to facilitate energy savings, harness renewable energy, and reduce environmental impacts has led to their use in the medical industry. Phase change materials are effective for use in healthcare and pharmaceuticals for various applications such as vaccine transport, designing drug delivery systems for cancer treatment, and designing infant coolers. These materials are highly beneficial in designing drug delivery systems for cancer treatment for various drugs like Lapatinib, Mercaptopurine, Rifampicin, Paclitaxel, Cisplatin, and others through various drug release mechanisms. Phase change materials such as 1-Tetradecanol and Stearic-Lauric acid are also used for designing drug delivery systems. Fatty acid/alcohol-based phase change materials may be chosen for drug delivery system development due to their human-compatible nature. Furthermore, materials like Decanoic acid can enhance the performance of biosensors for glucose detection. Natural fibers are environmentally friendly, renewable, and sustainable. The composite phase change material Isopropyl Stearate has promising thermal buffering capacity to maintain the temperature of vaccine boxes. Glauber's salt solution with a phase change range of 20 to 32 degrees Celsius is suitable for designing infant coolers. The results indicate that these materials are suitable for energy management in various medical systems, contributing significantly to reducing energy consumption in the medical industry through the use of phase change systems.
